And am still amazed at what can be squeezed out of these things." been using my six axis as a remote for my phone all day......... alas. I honestly cant believe this thread is so long. The reason "seems simple to me" a resistive touch screen is like 2 parts a backlight/lcd panel, and a digitizer. Also this is a moving part with a life span of like a few years. Compared to a resistive screen which could potentially never wear out but you cant use random stuff for stylus or gloves etc.... now I had the same issue with a tp1 after I slept on it
. seems a combination of heat and pressure could make the digitizer come in contact with the lcd, voila, crazy squarish oil spot. Also I noticed On my new tp2 the screen was in fact convex if you saw the contour in the reflection of lights etc.... my oily spot screen was concave a bit and or sunken in. Sagging is my choice of word. Tp2 screens seem cheap on ebay, like 20 bucks. But dissasembly is another issue all together, however there are teardowns around.
