To the OP. Verizon has stopped that policy. If they really just gave you one for free with out upgrading your contract , you are very lucky.
Reason verizon stop doing this was because people had "How" to get verizon to upgrade me to a better phone. Verizon did not have to upgrade the devices but they did because of there great customer service. Know they just sound like t-mobile CS department.
