I know if it is carrier specific, like Verizon's network on there standard phones they can see what you downloaded and will give you credit on your account for them...but I have no clue how they do it with the Android market....good question...but I would probably call Sprint or HTC and find out...since they are the ones supporting Android on their devices..

The Market handles it, you just download it again.
