Re: Posting from my $400 Evo
Okay, I'm home now. This was an 8 hour journey, not just for the phone, but it was a 300 mile drive all things considered. I won't be able to give all the details, as I haven't discovered them all myself yet, but I mostly like it. Yes, it is my first Android phone, and it doesn't have the number of widgets available for the home screen like the Sprint Lover's ROM on the TP2 has. But that may be able to be fixed later. My biggest issues, or things to get used to, are the lack of keyboard (as expected), and the fact that the screen is of the type that requires you to use your fingers. The stylus from my TP2 has no effect on it, so I imagine neither does a hand with a glove on it. Hence, since there is no Send and End keys (only on-screen), you would ONLY be able to answer the phone with a bare hand. If your hands were too dirty, you couldn't answer it with anything else, like a toothpick or whatever.
Many other issues I am finding solutions for, though I haven't implemented or tried any of them yet, like a task switcher, etc. There is a long way to go yet. However, both gmail and yahoo mail set up easily, and Google Sync brought in my contacts and calendar with ease.
As to the larger screens's larger keyboard, it helps some, but it still leaves a lot to be desired compared to the physical one, especially for a large-fingered guy.
Again, for the most part, I'm happy, and think/hope software will take care of many of the issues. We'll see.......
