In order for the Eris to get the new Google Navi, you must have 2.1(which shouldve been pushed out to you by OTA) or you can install the leak, and once you have 2.1 installed you have to update google maps to 4.2 or whatever the version number is and then she will have it.
as far as text goes you need 2.1 once again and you have to install the speech program. only program that i seen so far that uses speech to text is Handcent
