Currently dipping down to about ~37 mb of free ram all the time. Wish there was a way to get some back and speed this twinky up some.

Ehh, it is what it is.... People DL the ROM everyday, just don't post. Doesn't bother me (not like I'm in this for the fame and glamor, LOL)... less to keep up with when I don't have a crazy amount of posts everyday is the way I view it, LOL.
As far as the RAM, you must be leaving lots of stuff open. I'm sitting at 89MB free right now, but I am running a test ROM though. If I remember right, I would always hover around 50 to 70 on the regular release, but I never leave more than one or two things open at once though (I am a stickler for closing out apps).

Please correct me if I'm wrong... I hope this helps.

I personally try to stay away from the 2.1 messaging client and stick with the WM default texting (I usually hit all messages). Trying to remove the 2.1 messaging client while still retaining the proper texting links for the contacts. As far as seeing a message after you send it in the 2.1 client, that works for me 100% so far (2 second delay was the worst I have had so far in the 2.1 client after sending a message and seeing it).
For people looking for a way to jump between tabs, here is a neat little app I ran across, haven't tried it yet though.
