yes generally once money is on a gift card it doesn't go anywhere but back to the giftcard. if you wanted to return the phone you have 30 days (same 30 day contract lock policy sprint has) to bring the phone (in "new, resellable condition") all packaging and accessores into the store and obtain an exchange for another phone (with or without partial refund) or for a full refund of purchase price to the original method in which is was paid, i.e. $50 to the giftcard and $150 + tax back in cash or credit (debit transactions default to a cash refund). also, since you receive a $20 credit towards accessories for the phone it will likely be expected that you return said accessory or pay the $20
