I was told the same thing that you state in your post by a Verizon employee at a different store than the one I went to today. If you call customer service, they will work for you. That's what they're there for.

It does and it doesn't. There's only so much power certain CSRs can wield. I called about this last night and they said the best they could do was get me a replacement phone...
