Appreciate insight on whether it's working and which ROM to try for best battery life (and least lag).
I have noticed that I need to let the ROM "Marinade" if you want to call it that for a few days. The first 24 hours I got great battery life. The second day I'm not sure what happened but from 8am - 4pm I was at 15%. Not sure what happened. Did a *228 update PRL and for the next 2 days it's been better.

I don't average a whole lot of talk time daily, I do more with intermittently checking email, surfing web/Facebook. I have the same settings disabled as you do, in addition I use NRG's data controller program because my office is as I call it "behind God's back" and I have the worst connection there. So nowadays with light to no use I'll end up at 75%, I'll be at 50 with a couple of short calls or text messages.

I think visually or psychologically it makes a difference when you are looking at the battery icon NRG uses versus the standard battery icon that is on the stock ROM, or other ROMs that keep that same 3 bar marker. You tend to be more conscious of the battery going down with the NRG indicator.
