SPB Time fails on two counts: it's not free, and it is a fairly complex multi-function bit of software. In fact, while I was testing it during a trial period I couldn't find a usable stopwatch function.
No..it's not free...but it's only $14. And check out the screen shots in the link below...there are indeed stopwatch functions...and timer functions.
