I was able to search for and add my Vanguard funds, by using the 5 letter symbols from my Yahoo start page, stock portfolios section. Also, I just searched for vanguard index and the search came up correctly with VFINX. Searching for vanguard index trust or vanguard index trust 500 did not work.
I don't know about other funds.
