I live in So Cal and drove to Vegas last weekend. I got solid EVDO almost the entire road trip on my PRe and my Tmobile phone was getting Edge and at times Gprs as soon as I left So Cal.
Once I hit Vegas, I got 3g on my Nexus one and the speeds was amazing but 3g coverage was really spotty. I was getting Edge and at times no service. I did a few speed test on my Nexus One and damn it was fast at 2am and throughout the day, but to be honest, I'd rather have solid Sprint EVDO than spotty and fast 3g any day. I was averaging 1 to 1.5 mbps on my Pre and around 1-4 mpbs on T-mobile.
