Rev A ROM Speed Comparision

For those interested in the real speed boost provided by EVDO Rev A (vs. Rev 0), I have some data for you.

Running on the 2.09 ROM, I did a sequence of 3 speed tests and obtained the following (averaged) results:

EVDO Rev 0 Avg:
988 kb/s Download
107 kb/s Upload
245ms Ping

I then upgraded to the newly leaked 3.16 ROM (The one that enables Rev A & GPS) and repeated the same speed tests 3 times, and averaged the results.

EVDO Rev A Avg:
1082 kb/s Download
446 kb/s Upload
105ms Ping

All tests were conducted at the same speed test site using the same recommended server each time. The PC and PDA were rebooted before each test run.

I haven't had a chance to test the GPS outside yet - It's raining - But so far, I like the Rev A, and as a bonus, I seemed to have about 2 more megabytes of free program memory after the ROM upgrade.

Hopefully, this information will be helpful to someone.
