I often get password-protected Office Files (mostly Excel, even from my own computer), and can't open them on my TP2's native Office program, but I can open them with SoftMaker Office (which also has all the desktop features, which MS Office Mobile doesn't). Yes you can open the password protected files..but I want you to note. Most free versions only allow viewing and not editing and you gotta buy the apps for editing. I do not know if the free apps allow the feature of opening password protected files or not..but since you have a TP2 and it has an android port you can test it to be sure.
