Each time I flash a ROM, here are the steps I take to maximize battery life:
1) Network to CDMA only.
2) Location to 911 only.
3) Change backlight settings to auto, rather than stock 100%.
4) Set active sync peak times (M-F 7:30a-5p) and set the off-peak sync to every 2 hrs.
5) In BsB tweaks, I enable power save mode.
6) No "push" internet favorites anywhere (IE: links on home screen, favorites, or internet tab)
7) Never have on WiFi
8.) Bluetooth is never on either.
Things running which affect battery life (for the worse):
1) FB tab
2) Wxr tab
I am using the Apr 23rd 29101 Sense 2.5 standard ROM. Now, I know battery life does improve over time due to the phone "feeling-out" the battery, so to speak. Nevertheless, this is now at the 12 day mark, and no matter what, after unplugging the phone fully charged at ~7:30a, by 4p I'm down to 65% or less.
I have noticed something though, which pertains to both the battery issues, and the memory leak I mentioned a few pages back...I may FINALLY have a possible cause:
I noticed that the ROM doesn't start to drain battery and slow down until I've made a few calls. So, I tested my hypothesis and made a few calls, after each I checked the full task manager (in tools), as well as my memory usage. When I make calls, the "phone" application shows up in the task manager, and then closes when I end the call (as it should). So my hypothesis was wrong...until I made another call which was interrupted by an incoming call, which I answered. As expected, it put the other person on hold, but after ending both calls I noticed the "phone" application still listed. I then made another call, and voila: TWO instances of the phone app were running. When I ended the other call, one went away, but the other remained, leading me to believe that the memory leak is due to multiple instances of the phone application remaining open.
Also, while I cannot attribute this directly to a battery/memory drain, I have noticed that there is a program called "gwes.exe" which has a red x icon next to it. This program is always running, and seems to be very high up on the CPU/memory allocation lists. What is this program?
Hope this helps!
Any chance for a change log for the may 4th versions? Aside from the battery/memory issues, the Apr 23rd incarnation is serving me quite well, and it's hard for me to resign to upgrading without an idea of what's different...obviously. In other words, I like to know what's in my Kool-Aid
Thanks in advance!
