If you read the FAQ on Task29, you'll see that it is one of the 'tasks' that get performed when you flash a 'stock' ROM. It is a FULL wipe of the ROM on your device. A typical flash puts in what it is, but doesn't necessarily fully clean up after what was there before. This is why the 'flash dance' is used by some to make a more stable experience with a new ROM. The 'flash dance' includes a flash back to stock, but the step in that process that really does the magic is 'task 29' of some utility (explained in the Task 29 threads). The ones you are downloading do the task 29, plus drop a radio, splash screen, or something small. It runs quick, but cleans the device. You must read the instructions very carefully, though, because it really does 'clean' your device. One way to work with Task 29 is to have your desired ROM ready to go on your SD card, then pop the card out, then hook up to your PC, run Task 29, then put the SD card back in and SD flash your new ROM.
