My perfect record (so far) with Touch memory card corruption, and possibly the reason for your trouble Luke, may be due to settings for the USB port(s) on your desktop. Corruption was once a problem for me with an iPAQ years ago. I made changes to default USB settings, that fixed it. Now that I have Touch, those same settings remain. It's been awhile, but I seem to recall it was one setting in particular that cured my corruption. You can choose between 2 policies for write caching and safe removal:

* Optimize for quick removal, or

* Optimize for performance

Performance is default. By switching to quick removal, my card corruption issue was solved. To make the switch, assuming you're using Windows XP:

Open My Computer. Right click on any drive, I'd choose the USB drive, but any drive gets you to the important menu. From the right click menu, choose properties, the last choice. Within properties window, click the Hardware tab. You should see a list of your drives. Here's where you need to select your USB drive (any one, if you have more than 1), then click the Properties button. This brings up USB device properties window, click Policies tab. There you can see your setting and switch it if desired.

Hope this helps, MrG
