HTC Vogue, Google Maps, and BT GPS

I bought a Holux BT GPS to use with Google maps on my Sprint Touch. Works well enough in that GM detects the GPS and can track my location on the route. Problem is it only does it for whats visible on the screen. When the dot that signifies my location reaches the edge of the screen the map doesn't advance. When I advance the map manually then my location seems frozen until I toggle the GPS on and off in Google Maps. Is this expected behavior? If so is there some sort of reg hack to fix this? Do other commercial PPC navigation software behave similarly on PPC devices?
