I was responding to a question about why folders were slow in Total Commander, which I quoted in my post.

Opening the windows folder in total commander is very slow due to the number of files, so getting to the windows\start menu or windows\startup folder is takes a while.

The directory hotlist feature gives you a shortcut to folders you access frequently, and avoids having to go to the folders in between.
