I use to get the same fast response, but with the last few version I have found it to be fairly slow. I can pull the phone out and stare at it for a bit and it will then unlock. Curious to hear it still works that way for someone else. I had thought all the new functionality that had been added just slowed it down. I will have to give it another go.
