bassoverlow, do you see a new icon in your task manager when you start windows.. down by the clock? a green blobie, with swirly arrows?
once you connect and you hear the "DONG" sound... can you see your device in MY COMPUTER? does it show up, can you browse the content of your phone.. you should be able to... this has nothing to do with active sync..
