You need to tell your desktop to leave a copy of the email on the server for X amount of days. the instructions to do that will differ depending on what email client your using. You must be using sync because when you open your email client on your desktop it downloads all your email removing it from the server, the TP thinks its been deleted from the server so it deletes it as well.
