I love that this is your first post and you actually researched a ton before asking a question. So many "newbies" just start firing questions left and right.
I'm attaching the registry editor I prefer. It's a cab file. Just rename it the .zip extention to .cab and run the file on your 6800. It will install the registry editor on your phone. You can find it by using the start menu.
A word of advice - use the software to back up the registry before you start modifying things. There are dozens of good registy hacks and it's nice to be able to start with a clean slate.

Schap has authored softward that will let you perform the most used registry hacks (like the one you mentioned) without messing with a registy editor. The beautiful part is it's extremely to change them back if you don't like how it performs after a hack.
