I agree with your overall point- HTC seems to have abandoned keyboards while other manufacturers still produce them.

However, HTC made the MyTouch Slide (AKA HTC Espresso) for T-Mobile. It's an android device with a keyboard that is set to launch anytime now (just cleared the FCC the other day).
