I find this so uhm... hard to believe that it has to do with the screen dying. The icons of death? tsk tsk better watch out guys
I could be wrong but the times I've had this happen to me it was because of a bad ROM or a flash gone wrong.
I don't know but have you installed any cabs? what ROM are you using?
