To add to your thought a little there...

The only companies I can think of that don't make keyboards are Apple and HTC (anymore). Even Motorola is big on keyboards.

Hopefully the way the Droid totally destroyed the Droid Eris in sales will make HTC wake up and realize a lot of people do want keyboards.

Speaking of that, the Nexus 2 that Motorola was rumored to be working on had some pretty awesome specs (and a keyboard). Hopefully it sees the light of day eventually.
