LTE and Wimax both have their advantages and disadvantages...As for sprint going LTE, they are holding this as a backup option to please investors..but realistically speaking the LTE that sprint can run is not part of the LTE specs..they recently sent a petition to add it to the specs but it has not yet been added.

Personally I'm hoping that in later specs wimax and LTE merge as their specs are very similar to create the ultimate 4g network. (aka this isn't another GSM vs CDMA thing)
