After hard resetting and letting the Sprint customizations go through this time, I got GPS working with Google. I have no idea if this is chance or if there is something in the customizations. Just passing it on for research purposes.
I had to go outside, wait for google maps to do a lot of loading and then after about 5 minutes, it locked on. Now I guess I may play with it and hard reset again to see if I can get it working without Sprint customizations which suck.
