i had a problem like this about a month ago, after a hard reset i would set up yahoo 1 for personal and 1 work. and i would get a email before i would even hit the send receive button. it was some microsoft email. i didn't have msmyphone installed.
and i would look on my pc for the email threw yahoo and it wasn't there even though it was on my phone. i still don't know what it was.

but around this same time i had data connection (speed) issues
