Re: HTC WiFi Router

I am using HTC WiFi Router. Just to make sure some of you are using THIS specific program, is the shortcut icon a blue background with an antenna sticking up? Mine works very well. Until I got this, I had tried almost everything to get my PC connected to use my phones internet. I do not have any other form of internet since cable & DSL dont have service here yet. I am far from being in the boonies. I havve a decent signal most the time (1 - 3 bars). I have even had service with no bars. I am using a D-Link Wifi USB dongle on my PC. I set the network up with no problem at all. It found it , and connected. It will stay connected to wifi about half the time. Here is my trouble. I can be browsing the internet on my PC, when suddenly there is no connection. I look on the phone and the thing has disconnected and a "
Connecting to..." message appears with the little animated ring. It will NOT reconnect to Wifi unless I hit STOP ...wait.. then press "Start" again. Often, It will have stopped.... yet again. A couple times I hit Stop and it sat there for 5 minutes saying "Stopping" but never stopped. Those 2 times I had to kill the Wifi app in Task Man and then reload it. I cannot figure this out. Often times it will work for a few hours straight.. other times it gives me frequent disconnects. What is going on with this app? I dont know if its on the PC side or the phone side.. or even some BS with Verizon. But I cant see why the Wifi would disconnect.

For those of you who have trouble with the app finding your wifi network, make sure your wifi is Wireless G or backwards compatible with G. The phone uses an 802.11g/b network. If you are using a wireless-N network on your PC, thats probably the reason why it cant see it. Also, make sure you have installed the Internet Sharing hack. Sprint is known for block this, as with Verizon. You may also have to disable the service "CM Guardian" or set it to manual start. To do this, I highly suggest you download FDC Task Manager. It's free and IMO is the BEST damn TM app I have ever used. It has access to services.
