Are you using 6.1 or 6.5?
I use 6.1 and I use Slide2Unlock Pro for my lock. I like it better than S2U2 because it is much less bloated and has the basic features I want and only uses about 600kb of ram as opposed to 2mb for S2U2.
There is a bit of tinkering required to set it up right but it does the job well.

To remap hardware buttons look for an app called AEbutton.
thanks sir, yes Im actually trying to find a way to have the phone go immediatly into lock mode when I tap the power button. Im using 6.5 right now but may reflash tomorrow since im having some issues.
