Apple does lock everything down a bit too much which is why the JB community keeps growing. But android is still young and you can easily tell if you compare the 2 appstores. There's a lot of junk in both but there are many more quality (or mature) apps for Apple as far as my experience. However they do have the older platform with more users and devs. The major things that need to change for me would be the interface and notification system. There are a lot of hacks for springboard but you're still limited to what you can do. There are some hints of a change in os 4.0 though. And the notification system needs a revamp. It works but you can't help to wish it worked more like android/webos. There is a JB project looking to remedy this but there isn't many details at the moment. As for WM7, it does not look promising so far. However, there's still a lot of time left and we all know XDA may rip it to bits and make it usable. It's an exciting time for smartphones. I'm just glad we have all these options.
