This issue is very much ROM specific. I never have this issue running an Energy Rom, but have had it with various other ROMs. There is something different aboout NRG's ROMs where he does not have this issue, many other Chef's do. If there is a ROM that I like and want to run, but has this issue, I simply use ACs S2U2 (
http://ac-s2.com/) and use the "Do not suspend" option. I think you get the same effect if you do not check the "suspend" option on the default lock. As long as you do not let the device suspend, you do not have to worry about waking it. Battery life is shortened, but I can't tell it is by much. I have so many background internet apps, my phone is almost never asleep.
