MY FLASH DANCE

  1. TAKE OFF THE BACK OF THE PHONE (LEAVING BATTERY EXPOSED)
  2. PLUG IN PHONE INTO THE COMPUTER
  3. ACTIVATE ACTIVESYNC
  4. BOOT UP YOUR ENERGY ROM PROGRAM
  5. FOLLOW INSTRUCTION ON THE SCREEN
  6. WAT FOR THE LOADING BAR TO POP UP ON THE PHONE AND COMPUTER SCREEN
  7. WHEN THE LOADING BAR HITS 1% REMOVE THE BATTERY
  8. LET IT FINISH DOWNLOADING LIKE USUAL
  9. WHEN THE COMPUTER SIGNALS ITS DONE REMOVED USB CORD FROM PHONE
  10. WAIT 8 SECONDS......
  11. THEN PUT BATTERY BACK IN
  12. HIT SEND KEY + END KEY + POWER BUTTON TO ACTIVATE HARD RESET (IF PHONE VIBRATES YOU DID IT WRONG. MAKE SURE U END UP WITH ALL THREE BUTTONS PRESSED DOWN AT THE SAME TIME AND PRESS THE POWER BUTTON LAST)
  13. THEN PRESS THE VOLUME UP BUTTON
  14. WAIT FOR RESTORE TO FINISH.....
  15. THEN PRESS THE VOLUME UP BUTTON AGAIN

Just a few quick thoughts about these two methods. For the first quote, I'd have to say it better to do the hard reset BEFORE the initial boot as this will be sure to actually start clean as it was intended. Allowing it to load just takes longer and UC has to run twice this way. You may want to do it before the initial boot.

The second post, be VERY careful doing it this way. He says pull the battery before the rom is even done loading. This is highly risky as the cables can become loose over time and disconnect momentarily. I never even move my phone when flashing. This way I won't have to play with reflashing from boot loader mode. The usb will power the phone, but I wouldn't be flipping it around and pulling power sources in the middle of a flash. Just flash with the battery back off and when the computer says finished, click the box in the window, unplug the cord, pull your battery for 10 seconds or so then put it back in and do a hard reset. The lack of power will clear the NAND either way. Maybe it works your way, but with new roms coming out and people searching for "hard reset", I'd just like to keep this out there. I can't recommend flashing without a battery in the phone. Still, to each their own.

For anyone after this post that wants to quote me and say "we never hard reset and we're fine", I'm glad it works out of the box for you. Most people flash maybe 30 times on a particular phone. Some are exceptions, but you get the drift. Chances are slim that the cache will contain corrupt information for everyone, but 30 times multiplied by a few thousand people, and you've got some good chances of catchin a bug or two. If a new rom gives you trouble, always try to clear storage/wipe device first. Pull the battery and push a few buttons then load WM. Sounds time consuming, but searchin for 1 topic or posting 1 reply can take 10x longer. This should be stage one on any new buggy rom... or like myself, done for good measure.

Lastly, going back to sleep!
