Anybody in here use
XTask? This is a really sweet task switcher and I can't live without it now.. When I flashed to March.17 rom the first thing I did was disable Arkswitch and put in XTask.. And mapped it to double-tap on the home key. And just a few minutes ago I just discovered something really awesome that I can do with it.
I'm sure everybody knows that WM task manager kills your backgrounded tasks without your permission if it thinks your RAM is too low.. ESPECIALLY going from the Phoenix roms up to the Leo roms, I noticed the lesser amount of free RAM after I've been up and running for a while. And I like to run Garmin in the car while I have Kinoma streaming radios in the background.. I just couldn't get it to work because WM kills the task that isn't in the foreground.
There doesn't really seem to be a way around it. Registry changes don't help. Wellllll.... if you hide your background tasks where WM
can't find them, then they
won't get closed
With XTask you can make the window invisible. The process is still running, but the window is invisible and does not appear in your tasks list. Thus it is completely invincible to the process assassin... err.. memory manager.
I even opened up Opera mobile with the radio on and I opened up as many tabs as I could, trying to make things crash or make the memory manager kill something. It got a little slow, but everything kept on chugging along just fine. And surprisingly, nothing crashed, either!
