I can't understand why though. You'd think there would be some sort of workaround. I'm not willing to go Boot Camp on this computer, but I wonder if that would work -- probably.
Wish there was another way to get 6.5 onto this device.

I believe you could use the micro SD card method to flash, listed in the sticky
here that way you don't have to have a pc to flash.
