It's all about the hardware. The software is mostly what everyone else has already been running with custom roms.
Yes it's humongous (notice the spelling
) but incredibly thin. The screen is 800*480 which is about the best resolution you can get today. But given how large it is (4.3 inches diagonal), the pixel density is much lower than for instance a Diamond which has a 2.8 inch screen at 640*480. The math is plain to see.
What phone you choose is up to you. Buy it if you like it, don't buy it because of the hype. That's what the jesusphone is for.
Also - the task manager is easily added, takes a few seconds. That's just for the default one. There are plenty of other options that more finger-friendly as well if you're so inclined.
I don't recommend this phone for anyone that's not a compulsive tweaker or power user, which you don't seem to be based on my (admittedly limited) first impression.
