This is a Android thing. I know it works the exact same way on my sisters Motorola Droid, however on my mom and Brother's Droid Eris it acts the same way as the Touch Pro2 Dialer where you can search by pressing #s. I am just waiting for at least the Dialer from HTC Sense for Android to be ported over for us and we will be good to go, if not the entire Sense UI with working landscape.
