The phone will use either GPS or pick you off the nearest Cell Tower. So when it shows your location, that is picking your closest Cell Tower to where you are. This is better than nothing, especially until GPS works. But definitely not as precise. To get Cell Tower updating to work, seems some have had to update to Google Maps 4.0, that worked for me. Others they have just had to enable Wifi, even if they weren't using Wifi. And then go into your Location and Security section and check the 2 boxes on updating via GPS and Wifi. Accept the agreement and see.
