The port on the 6800 (and most HTC devices) is called ExtUSB. It's fully backwards compatible with mini-USB. All your old accessories will still work. Like the poster above mentioned, there are extra pins for audio in/out and also application specific controls (such as an answer/hangup button, you can also get a wired audio remote control).
