so if i bricked my phone by botching a ROM install i couldn't send it back for a warranty replacement. this is not the case however. the phone just stopped working. that's like saying you void the warranty on your new iMac by installing windows.

HTC probably has "third party software" defined as being anything that does not come from an official HTC update.
