My fault for poor explanation. It uses the time that Sprint's servers register the text being sent. So even if your friend's phone thinks it's 2016, your phone will be able to correctly interpret the time Sprint's servers are reporting if you have my fix.
Basically, it does the same thing that the official fix does, except it works on custom ROMs.
ziggy's is less than ideal because it uses your phone's local time as the timestamp. So, if your phone is off and your friend sends you a text at 8PM, but then you turn your phone on the next morning at 10AM, your phone will timestamp the text at 10AM instead of 8PM like it should be (and like my fix does).
