I use Tarkim's Rhodium Keyboard Controller (
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240) for exactly that purpose! I have a short press on the Windows button take me to the home screen and a long press take me to the Programs menu. The remapper is very easy to use.
I also use the Tarkim remapper to have a long press on the
Volume Up button toggle Bluetooth on or off and a long press on the
Volume Down button toggle WI-FI on or off. Tarkim's keyboard utility is my favorite add-on cab besides the Cookie home screen mod.
