I thought it was daunting at first too, until I just jumped in and started using it.

Follow the install instructions, and put a few of your favorite cabs into the Auto\CAB folder before your next flash, and you'll see the programs get installed. Then add a few more programs, or some reg entries. Once you see it in action, and understand how easy it is, you can worry about trying to get everything perfect.

Once I got into it and discovered how easy it really was, I dove in and started finding reg entries, CABS, setup my provisioning XML, etc. Then I'd hard reset, check the results, tweak, hard reset, etc. After a few rounds of that I had a pretty full setup.

Now I just maintain by checking for new version of cabs, remove old or unneeded ones, etc. When a new ROM comes out, you need to check to see that your fixes are still needed, and remove some of them.

I organize my CABs in the Auto\CAB folder into subfolders so I can keep track. I have:
\Storage Card\SASHIMI\Auto\CAB\1 - ROM Fixes
\Storage Card\SASHIMI\Auto\CAB\2 - mms fix
\Storage Card\SASHIMI\Auto\CAB\3 - Programs
\Storage Card\SASHIMI\Auto\CAB\4 - Last

Since my own programs don't usually depend on the ROM version, I can just look at the fixes this ROM needs, and the currently needed MMS fix before each flash.

The '4 - Last' folder lets me put any CABs that depend on other installations.
