Is it illegal for Microsoft to issue an OS update that closes a security hole that someone was exploiting on their own computer? If not, then it is not illegal to "cripple" a device after the sale.

My ford focus has a governor that wont let it go over 110mph. (I know this because I drove most of the way to ohio at 110mph,but thats another story.... the nebraska highway patrol cant track this back to me can they.....) Just under 110 the car still had plenty of power and acceleration,so I bet it would have gone alot faster. Maybe I should sue Ford.
