To all of the wannabe lawyers posting about their views of the illegality of selling a "crippled" device or making a "crippling" modification after the sale:

Is it illegal to sell a car with a speed governor? If not, then selling a "crippled" device is not illegal.

Is it illegal for Microsoft to issue an OS update that closes a security hole that someone was exploiting on their own computer? If not, then it is not illegal to "cripple" a device after the sale.
