I just bought a diamond and it was a little weird getting a phone that still had the prior owners phone number on it.
When I activated it, it obviously switched to my phone number but I think I'd stop into a sprint store to see if they could deactivate it for you... I wouldn't think they'd charge anything for that.
Also make sure you delete everything off the 4GB internal storage if you haven't already. Hard reset doesn't clear that.
