It changes the amount of time which your phone takes to poll the local towers. It makes it poll/ping the towers more frequently. So as to speed up the process of making/receiving calls. But, don't quote me on it! |
I think it only speeds up the process of receeving calls. Making calls involving you initiating the ping, and hence is not part of a timed process.
