I tried adjusting a few things like switching away from push email for my exchange server, but the problem persisted.
This evening, I installed some tools and found that the process mflo_starter.exe had consumed a large amount of CPU time over the past 24 hours and was spinning at about 30% CPU usage. I'm not sure why this didn't impact me before, but I think this is related to the battery problems that surfaced for me with the new ROM. In case this helps others, the following thread helped me get rid of this process (which is related to Verizon's mobile TV application that I never use) as well as the mobile TV icons.

I installed the PHM registry editor and deleted both the "Depends95" and "Launch95" values under HKLM\Init, as well as added an exclaimation point as a prefix for the "Dll" value under the HKLM\Services\MFLORSSI as described on the linked thread. After rebooting the phone, the offending process isn't running and the icon is gone. Hopefully this will resolve my issue -- and potentially help others. Thanks again to those that posted this new ROM which fixed the 3G issues.

That was it! My battery issues relapsed, and the rapid draining was so random there was nothing that made sense. I just went through and disabled everything as detailed in the thread, and my battery life is perfect again. It behaves like it should, barely dropping unless I am actually using the phone for something.
