Take a look at
Sprint Theme Cube + Home + Quicklauncher + Action screen by poorlyduck. You are looking for the
HTC Home Plug. Which in included in poorlyduck's post.
As for backing up contacts I would also recommend
PPCPIMBackup 2.7 (XDA's web site is down right now)
And you can never have to many backups of your contacts.
